- The 1/2/100 game plays similar to a normal 1/2 NLHE game. Normal open is 7 to 12, 3 bets in the 25 to 40 range. Players do not do a lot of 3 betting. If you open higher than 15 consistently, expect a lecture on how you are losing value because no one will call so high. The regs will grumble and try to shame you into stopping. The 'pros' will play back at you until they can hop over to a softer table.
Ameristar has one of the highest rakes, but also has the biggest bad beat jackpots. The new room is gorgeous. The player rate at the hotel kicks in after 4 hours of play but I think it's only Monday thru Thursday.
Golden Gates and the Lodge are within easy walking distance for a nice change of venue.
Your best bet for NLHE is to spend some time at the free bar poker tournaments and meet people that have home games. A lot of dealers play in or host their own home games on the nights they aren't dealing bar poker. Colorado allows you to play poker with friends but you are not allowed to rake a home game. - I visit Boulder and Denver several times a year, and have 30-35 hours at Ameristar, and +1 what everyone else said. The $100 cap comes into play sometimes in big pots, and I think in general it keeps you from really playing for stacks, but especially at 1/2 stacks usually aren't big enough for it to really matter.

I was more asking about weather the games are good enough to make a decent living off of. There's no lack of action in So Cal so I play full time comfortably. I worry that the smaller market won't provide enough action to play full time. Any thoughts? - Last I heard Andy was running the room, maybe he is a supervisor. He seems to switch often. I can't comment on the weekday action as I only played fridays after work as I lived in Colorado Springs. Over a small sample I was running about 1.3BB/hr in the 30/60 game. So even 2-3 days a week would have been decent IMO.

I'm still unsure if I'm just going to hop into the $2-$5 level when I move to Denver next week. Or if I'm going to grind some $1-$2 to get my feet in the new surroundings. People are going to play much different then they do at these low capped No Limit games in So Cal.
